Century Technology
Printing methods have changed dramatically within the last
few years and St.George Publishing believes that change is
beneficial to our publishing partners. Rather than using labor
intensive and limited traditional printing methods, we employ
digital equipment. In a simplified view, think of it as similar
to the way that you send one of your computer documents to
your own computer printer at home: assemble the document and
send to print. Of course, our professional graphic artists
and production staff "tweak" for quality before
submitting a job to print and even continue to check the job
in-progress. Still, the process is generally the same; it's
that simple.
Why Is the Quality So Good?
Our digital presses do not require manual inking or changing
of colors - it's all there, ready to go for any job. Our weekly
church bulletin customers are not confined to using one predetermined
color each week of the liturgical calendar, because we dont
have to ink the presses to print a particular color - they
print full color! Of course, should you desire to use the
liturgical color as part of your cover, we certainly welcome
you to choose that option; it's your choice.
Is our "glossy" look more
expensive? Quite simply: no! The glossy appearance
of our finished product is the result of the print process
in which the dry ink is set, or "fused" onto the
paper. It is not expensive glossy paper or an additional process;
just the nature of the digital print technology.
"Traditional
offset printing is in for some real competition as the price
of digital print falls and longer digital print runs become
more affordable."
